This thread is meant to post comparison shots of Resident Evil 4. Considering I don't own a PS3 or Xbox 360 this is a comparison between the Wii, 2007 PC port and the new Ultimate HD port. At the moment I have two comparison shots between the Wii version and Ultimate HD port. I will post more later when I get the time, when I do so this post will be updated. Everyone else is free to post their comparison shots below.

Wii Version (Dolphin) @ 1920 x 1080 and IR set to Auto (multiples of 640 x 528):

Resident Evil 4: Ultimate HD @ 1920 x 1080 and default settings with HD textures:

Original 2007 PC Port:

The only thing that is irking me so far is the darker color scheme/pallet with the Ultimate HD port where the Wii version is lighter. I am not sure if there is a way to fix this but I hope someone figures it out. No it isn't brightness or gamma as that is set exactly like the Wii version at default but maybe the setting needs to be tweaked on PC to give the appearance of the Wii version. Other than that, so far it looks about identical to the GC/Wii version maybe better due to higher resolution and higher quality textures.

Told you that he could be trusted ;)

As it turns out, he is modding the same file as one needed in my mod so I need him to make a fix just for my mod.
I have messaged him with my version of the files so he can apply his fix to them.

Right now people that want to use my mod have to choose.
They can have his fix but sacrifice the action button icon being modded (Still shows as the Xbox X button) or not use Sigma's fix and have all buttons modded perfectly.

He has messaged me back and has said he will look at applying his fix to my files so all I can do is wait a bit longer to release the final version of my mod.

I've updated my PS button mod with nicer looking buttons and it now includes Sigma's fixes.

Also, Albert and crisdecuba are now working together to retexture the entire game to a higher standard then ever before.

Here is the guys current WIP...

So.. Specular highlights and bumpmaps are officially implemented in the latest beta patch. However Capcom/Qloc didn't fix the coordinates for the effect, hopefully in the next beta patch if there is one. I wonder how much longer they'll bother with fixing issues before they get bored and crash. Admittedly they should have just stuck with 30fps rather than trying to implement 60fps which the engine was clearly not developed to support, it's not like there is a noticeable difference between 30fps and 60fps with the way the engine and game were developed.

Edit: Capcom might crash and burn because most there are needy, whiny and demanding pricks who are picky about even the smallest of details. Admittedly I can be picky at times but I am quite satisfied with the state the game is in and they continue to improve it so all the better. My only gripe is with is looking as close to the Wii/GCN versions as possible. Sound is not an issue for me as the game sounds fairly decent on my 5.1 surround system.

They also missed fixing bump-maps on some items (Martins (Sigma) fix restored all bump maps as well as specular highlights)

You're better off sticking with Martins (Sigma) shader/bump map fix for now.
I'm not applying the official shader/bump map fix into my button mods before they fix the shaders correctly.

Yes, just delete the 07000000.path.lfs file it gives you and replace it again with the patch he provided.

Heh I'm done with the Steam RE4 forums. Not really much reason more to post there as my game works fine for me, Capcom is aware of the issues that need to be fixed and the next patch is the final patch for this game. I'll probably lurk at the modding community to see what interesting mods are planned or already being worked on.

I think I probably got flamed to hell in that thread I last posted in or told that I'm an idiot but I'm too much of an insecure sob to check. Plus I'm trying to avoid anything that will get me worked up, increase my anxiety level or is detrimental to my confidence and self esteem which is why I gave up on Facebook. So I'll see everyone at the Resident Evil modding community for RE4 discussions.

For anyone interested the demo of the fan made Hi Res texture patch is out now and oh boy does it make the game look incredible.

Will be VERY hard to go back to the Wii/NGC versions after this work is completed.

You can get it here.

Some comparison shots...

Nice, the difference is incredible and stays true to the original design and experience of the game. I thought this was being made for the Wii version then modified little by little for the UHD port? The UHD version isn't too bad, nothing like the Sourcenext disaster from 2007 but there is stuff that still needs to be fixed, corrected and improved. The lack of DoF not a biggie even though I hoped they would eventually implement it due to most fans wanting the same experience as the GC/Wii at the very least. They should at least correct the speculars and bump maps, if not at least revert the changes so we can use Sigma's patch without issues. It's looking grim for the UHD port that several things won't be fixed or corrected with the final patch. I'm hoping there is a way for the community and modders to fix what Capcom won't bother fixing.

Thanks for sharing this DS. I kind of forgot about updating this thread with additional comparisons mostly due to my poor net connection.

It was being made using the Wii version to begin with because there was no way to import the textures into the new PC version yet.

But ever since the texture importer was created they moved all there work over and are now solely working with RE4UHD.

The jacket is still unchanged due to them not being happy with it still.

You may notice certain textures that have not yet been updated, such as the dog in the first gameplay section, some traps (for example, bear traps), the in-game enemy textures, the chainsaw in one cutscene, etc. The reason for this is primarily due to the way the files are organized in this release of the game. Also, we’ve taken out Leon’s jacket for now (mainly because it’s not final and it’s an important texture to “get right”).

The shader fix Sigma released for 1.0.5 is still 100% compatible with the final 1.0.6 version.
The only people saying it isn't compatible on Steam don't know what they are talking about.

Qloc/Capcom has moved on from RE4UHD and are now working on the next game that will hit steam.
