Not very fast. But still FFX run well. There is no need for PS2 bios.

Play! is an attempt at creating a PlayStation 2 emulator for the Win32 platform. For more information about this project please visit the "About" section of this site. If you're looking for a working and mature PlayStation 2 emulator, I'd advise you to check the other emulators available in the "Links" section.

Plays website link:
"PCSX2 - Currently the best PS2 emulator around and even supports some commercial games."
WHAT? Some? All's fair in love and war but "some" is a bit of an understatement.
Edit: And no offense intended BTW.

Xbox still gets no love :(
It's stupid how there's no emulator for the original xbox seeing as it's exactly like a pc.

I'M JOKING I'M JOKING!

By law everyone should be required to refer to the xbox line as xbox > xbox360 > xbone. It's confusing.

Half that time will be spent 'thinking' about alternatives for compinsating the xbone's low sales besides software emulation for backwards compatibility and the rest implimenting "safety measures" to prevent people from making a working pc emulator; a futile effort but all the more satisfying in the end.

Expect it to cost too.

Emulation and such, I would not stand for that, I have been digging with emulation since Genecyst could barely run sonic. Over my dead body would I contribute to big companies using it for fast dollars more than they already have.

If you remember the old business move of selling the machines below cost, that'd be its modern-day form (sell cheaper for everyone, ) not everyone welcomes prices far above 250$ and expensive subscriptions just for one or 2 desired features like Netflix, especially where subscriptions are neither sold nor activable).

Regardless, it's a discussion better left to another thread. Anyone tried this emulator so far ?

Wat. Another PS2 emulator? Interesting...

If he achieves more acurrate HW GS emulation using OpenGL then he's already won. Gsdx is PCSX2's bottleneck. HW mode still has way too many glitches and sometimes even SW mode is faster on i7. Not to mention it being D3D limits it to Windows.

True, but there is to say that it's almost impossible to fully emulate a GS over D3D or OpenGL without any graphical glitches.
Even Sony had difficulties emulating it after they removed the Hardware GS, that's why only a handful certain games are supported.

To get a good compatiblity there is no other way around than using software rendering.

I actually have PS3 and while the internal PS2 emulator has some FPS drops there and there the GS emulation is far more accurate.
Red Dead Revolver and the original MGS3 for example have no issues. Of course Sony has better idea of how their own consoles work obviously.
Don't get me wrong. I appreciate gabest's hard work that made GSDX the best GPU plugin it is now, but it's PCSX2's weakness now, because noone made any major changes in some time. Mostly some hacks.

Is that guy roor behind the creation of this emulator, this is just speculation but I think he will charge for the use of his emulator, anything with connectix behind it will cost. Remember virtualcgamestation pson emulator, and bleemcast, i"m sure therez more, if it works perfectly with any and all gamez I buy it, i"m starting to think final fantasy x is a heavily patched with pcsx2 for it to run so well, I dont encounter problems when playing ffx, load up wild arms altercode f or suikoden 5, and its a mess,

I'm "that guy Roor".

Sorry, it just really funny to read this.

Connectix is a name I personally like, because I really admired VGS at the time. I have no further connection to them.
I'll not be charging for anything...

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know.

I'm also not related to this project, either...
On the other hand it's really good to see so much activity :)

Cheers!
