Hopefully this is the right location to post this, as it isn't directed to any specific emulator, but it is related to an upcoming plugin by Gonetz. Gonetz, author of Glide64 has been working on a new N64 plugin for quite a while now, as seen on his personal blog

http://gliden64.blogspot.ru/

His goal is to make the best HLE graphics plugin, highly accurate, fixing many of the issues that plagued other plugins, including his Glide64, and he wants this information spread as much as possible, as he now has a crowdfunding set up:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/gliden64-graphics-plugin

Many games like Majora's Mask (Lens of Truth), Perfect Dark (CamSpy), to name a few, but the biggest glitches that have plagued N64 emulation will at long last be fixed.

I'm glad he's developing a new plugin, and that he has put the trust of its progress into the users. I personally think it's an awesome idea, as I'd love to see this plugin flourish and get released, as this is much needed IMHO, to see a plugin emulate games more fully, more accurately and and at a better speed. :D

Awesome! Glide64 is literally the best N64 plugin available, so there is no doubt he will deliver what he is promising.

Time is important. Every bit counts! Please donate to the project if you are willing to spare a few bucks.
Also spread the word to other websites. The N64 emulation scene has been down for far too long, we can't waste this golden opportunity!

Emutalk is a pretty big emulation forum too, I wonder if it's on there as well.

No worries, i'm looking forward to this!

For those who haven't seen it:

Gonetz is going to implement shaders!
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/gliden64-graphics-plugin#activity

Hello,

During the campaign I often received questions about features which were not mentioned in the main project plan. The usual answer is: the main plan is solid and contains only the essential tasks for release. Any features not mentioned in it could be implemented if the main tasks go smooth and if time remains for additional stuff. However, if a particular feature can be implemented easily, it will most likely get implemented.

For example, today I was asked if it was possible to add CRT filters to simulate an old CRT display. After quick investigation I said: yes, it’s easily doable. These filters are a mere post processing of the resulting image. The plugin already supplies the necessary data for this and there are plenty of open source CRT filters. I quickly tested two of them to check how it will work:

https://images.indiegogo.com/file_attachments/812349/files/20140826001353-CRT1.jpg?1409037233

https://images.indiegogo.com/file_attachments/812351/files/20140826001711-CRT2.jpg?1409037431

I know: they look incorrect. Scanlines must be horizontal, not vertical. This is how the shaders work as is, without any modification. I need time to understand how they work to fix it. This should be just a technical problem.

There are other nice post processing filters like blur, bloom and many more, check Filthy Pants blog for other examples. These filters can be added too since the mechanism is the same. I think it is also possible to dynamically load them from an user-defined folder instead of hardcoding them into the plugin.
The campaign, as of now, has been 79% funded with only 10 days remaining. Please donate some spare change you might have, and share with people you know that might be interested.

Come on! We're very close to the goal. Only $1224 USD to go. We can't let go this opportunity! :D
We don't know when we might have another chance, or even if we'll have another one...

It's not over yet tho, there are stretch goals for Android Port and for additional features like port to Mac OS X, widescreen hack, antialasing, rendering in native res, tesselation, etc.

There are still 4 days left and we're close to the Android Port stretch goal (almost $7,000 USD from the $8,000 USD needed)

Also, new cool video about the campaign:

A dammit, I got my hopes up for nothing.....ugh... How much more does he need for the other features? I was told $6000 was I not? Damn.... How much is needed for anti-aliasing, etc? That wasn't in the link I posted.

Haha, I wish he would have done the android and mac thing AFTER the windows version. RIP Project64. Seems mainly for MUPEN. Just hope a decent gui comes out for MUPEN before then.

#22 ·
RIP? How so? Mupen64 has a decent GUI now, it's just the author's have an anti-Windows agenda. Mudlord made a decent GUI for Mupen64. It's for PJ64 as well.

Definitely shaping up to be one of the best plugins out there for sure :D

*Reads the part about Turbo3D microcode" Wat. I didn't know so many N64 games actually used that.

Ay, will will be able to use the same texture packs as before or will they now have different numbers on them?

That, I don't know to be honest.

Is there a mupen frontend that doesn't keep everything in the root directory? Which is the frontend that is most recommended? And does mupen support pokopom?

#29 ·
He's accepting donations, but does he specify an amount?

#31 ·
I can't seem to find that info, besides the fact at least 8000 was donated and the biggest donors that were listed...? See, the prob is it doesn't explicitly state the exact amount needed per donor.

#33 · (Edited)
So I can even donate 1-5 dollars and I'd get beta access? Do I understand that correctly? Because that site says that donations are closed....I'm confused now. Even if I did donate, I don't think I'd be able to participate in testing.

Edit: Never mind

Damn, that's what I was afraid of. I wouldn't be able to access the forum with the amount that I was gonna donate. Guess I wouldn't be able to report any bugs I encounter. If the donation I was gonna give, well, yeah.. I don't know how much I can do right now, $25 would be the minimum required if I wish to gain access to the forums and the builds...hmmm...

Edit: Why does it say Mupen64? Does it not work on PJ64? Ah bugger, I hope not, because I don't like Mupen64 for a variety of reasons.
