I have mac version 1.74, I tried 1.72, and neither of them will save. i get and error that says "unable to detect backup memory" I can use save states, but I would rather have those as backup instead of my real saves.
If anyone knows how to fix this, let me know. I am going to try 1.6 version and see if that works. If it does, I will post saying it works.
ok, version 1.6a seems to have no problem saving it at all. I don't really know much about programming, but obviously something was changed in 1.7 that messes with the way golden sun saves
umm, now 1.6a won't save either, and I don't know why, I didn't change anything
There must be a bug or something in the newer versions, since nearly everyone with mac has gotten problems with saving in them, thou not in the 1.5 one. Maybe the time is in for an update that saves correctly?
that would be amazing, i checked VBA-M for mac (alpha) and it wouldn't save either. all my other games seem to save just fine, though i think i had problems with FFTA at one point, can't remember, it's been awhile
I'm not familiar with the mac version of the emulator, but check if there is an option to manually set the type and size of the save memory (it's at Options->Emulator->Save Type at the Windows version), and set them to Flash and 64K. I had the same problem with an earlier version of the emulator and setting the save type to those fixed it.
its not a rom defect, it works in vba 1.51, and the memory is flash and 64K (in 1.51) you can't set it for the latest version, im pretty sure it chooses automatically.
i know that isnt the problem though because you can set memory size in 1.6a and that wont save golden sun either.
i tried setting it to 64k in version 1.6a and it still didn't work, i explained this already. It works in 1.51 though, like i said its probably an issue with how it saves
ug.... would you please read me previous posts? I use 1.74 i was testing previous versions to see if they save, the first one i found that would save was 1.51. in between i tried 1.6a which didn't work either. basically, the only thing this post is good for is for whoever is working with programming the mac version of VBA. they can use this information to (hopefully) fix this saving problem
so you are saying that the version 1.74 you tested doesn't save at all? because i don't remember ever having this problem until i tried to play golden sun.
it doesn't save if the options are set to 128KB flash ram, it only works if set to 64KB flask ram.
so far, in testing it works on everything 1.7.0 - 1.8.0
so it says to me that the issue is within the macport of 1.7, and not entirely an issue with the code.
well... hopefully we'll have someone to work on the mac build.... who actually gets around to making changes.
I'm not sure if anyone still reads this particular thread but I just downloaded and tried VBA 1.7.2 Mac and was able to change the settings and am now able to save Golden Sun. I went straight to the VBA website instead of through somewhere else though (not sure if that makes a difference). But anyway, just thought I'd let peoples know
okay, VBA has since updated to 1.7.6 and now i cant seem to find a copy of 1.7.2 anywhere thats compatible with mac. sourceforge only has windows versions. anyone know where i can find a copy?
sorry, but the mac builds are not being maintained by anyone from the official or vba-m fork teams.
