Well, basic explanation is that the game I'm trying to play specifically is FF8. When I start it up it shows the squaresoft logo and intro stuff. It has weird lines in it. Then after that a huge glitchy mess shows up then the intro video thing starts up and the sound is going probably 3 or 4x the regular speed (i've tried multiple settings to no avail) as well as the emulation just being off in general. Why is this? I seriously cannot find a logical reason as to why it's doing this. It even does the speed up when I run Bios. I tried using an older version of EPSXE on here but same issue. I've never had such a problem before... so can anyone shed some light on this? I recently made some custom gameshark codes for FF8 so I'm really eager to test them out. But I can't until this gets fixed...

Any information would be much appreciated.

I will post the recommended settings when I get home. I have them copied to my desktop. Give me a few hours

Sounds like a corrupted image to me, as far as the intro goes. Try making another ISO after making sure the CD is clean and dosen't have bad scratching. I personally prefer bin and cue files but that's me. Try Taran's settings first and then try making a new image if that dosen't work.

Pete's OGL2 Special game fixes: [Ignore small framebuffer moves]
Pete's GPUs Special game fixes: [Lazy upload detection] Hides garbage when overworld loads.
-<Pete's GPUs v1.78> When you leave Balamb Garden half the screen fades out incorrectly.
-<Pete's GPUs v1.78> The intro screens "Published by Square Electronic Arts L.L.C.",
"Squaresoft", credits and pictures should be fading in & out.
-<P.E.Op.S GPU v1.18> The battle transition effect is incorrect.

A few side notes. Make sure you actually pick what vram you are using and do not set it to auto.
I would use petes ogl2 to run the game. This is the setting i had it on and had no issues the entire game. Make sure special game fixes is on. I would also suggest setting the ratio to a true 4:3 ratio so you do not get to much stretching...just makes the game look better. If you want a good shader to use check my sig at the bottom of my post. The natural shader looks great with this game.

Use DSound Repair 1.10b, the other plugins are pretty bad, Dsound 1.10b makes the games sound correct, it's on this site and on Sourceforge.

things seem to work only I need PSY emulation cheater plugin and it seems to glitch the sound and makes the emulation run fast.. maybe that's the problem? why would it do that. Never had issues with Pec before.

P.S. how do I use the natural shader?

I have had that issue with pec. From there you have to actually go into pec config and set the fps to max 60. Dsound is a good plugin also for sound. In order to use the shader you have to:
Download the shader
Drop it into the plugins folder file
Go to here on petes ogl2 (look at my uploaded image)
Find the file and you are good to go.

Thank you for all the help everyone. It's extremely appreciated. got everything working now.

Just curious though... I was wondering what shader is being used in these pictures

Organism Technology Fictional character Photography Games

Black Darkness White Photograph Light

I thought this looked kind of neat. Any idea what the shader is and would it be ok to use on FF8 or FF7?

Looks like this one (refer to my screenshot). I could never get it to work well on my system...it would drag my fps down to around 40.
