Post your random gaming thoughtS!!

To start things off:

Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops will be playable in stereoscopic 3D when it launches worldwide on November 9.

Publisher Activision said that the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions of the shooter will be compatible with 3D-ready HDTVs and 3D PCs utilising active shutter 3D glasses.

Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia said: "Development of stereoscopic 3D began as an R&D project, but once we saw what the technology brought to the Call of Duty experience, what a great fit and how immersive it was, we knew that we had to develop it for Black Ops.

"Aiming down the sights of your weapons, flying in helicopters, rappelling down mountains, and moving through highly detailed environments are just some of the awesome experiences you will have in 3D with Black Ops."

He added: "We made sure the experience is seamless for gamers to use with a simple menu option to enable stereoscopic 3D or disable it at any time whether playing in the single player campaign, multiplayer or Zombies."

Black Ops multiplayer was looking more ambitious than we imagined when we went hands-on last month.

I'm really digging the new Steam interface.

Lots of helpful options to look for something specifically, as well as some good "just browsing" mechanics to broaden exposure to games I might not have otherwise noticed.

In regards to a previous post about The Evil Within I can't seem to find any official requirements posted anywhere which seems like not such a good sign. I've been trying to locate system requirements to estimate how large the download will be with Steam. I'm hoping the download is less than 15GB or around 15GB max. As for my system being able to run it well I'm not too concerned as my system with sli handles every modern game at 30fps or better so far. I dunno about Dead Rising 3 as I've heard of high requirements and poor optimization but I'm hoping I'd be able to at least get 30fps out of The Evil Within and Dead Rising 3.

Eventually I'll be investing in a modern Intel (Haswell or Skylake) processor, a GTX 980 and 16GB ram for an upgrade.

Good luck with that considering the Evil Within needs 50gb to install and comes out at 41gb once installed

Well Steam downloads are usually smaller. Prolly will be half that size for download so I'm looking at at least another 25GB. I have to wonder why so big, are there uncompressed textures cause I'm sure the game isn't much longer than current games. Every time I see a large download/install size I get my hopes up the game is longer, more content and a thorough engaging story. Then the game turns out to be short, linear and lackluster and can't understand what is taking up so much space.

Also where did you (or they) find requirements? I searched and no information turned up other than speculated requirements. Nothing on Wikipedia, Steam store page, developers or publishers official page for the game.

They need to understand most of America (USA) is still stuck in the dark ages with low caps and practically non-existent broadband, compress the $&#!@^% download and game as small as possible.

Well it would be a nice time than any if anyone knows of an individual or small scale legitimate service (in the USA) that will copy the game files to a disk and ship them to me for a price.

Battlefield 4 received a HUGE patch. It brings the improvements tested by many CTE patches.

It reduces the latency issues, makes gameplay tighter, fixes some long-standing issues, GREATLY improve Rush mode on Vanilla maps, balance various weapons and grenades, and more.
They also added the "Classic" preset to game servers. It makes the game behave closer to the older BF games.

Noice. I'm all for companies continuously improving their product.

I'm getting worried.

Any idea if my SLI'd 1GB Vram GTX 460's will be able to run Dead Rising 3 and The Evil Within?
Dead Rising 3 will run alright on medium, at sub 1080p. You'll get more performance if you leave the internal renderer at 720 or 900p. Even on higher end hardware, the game doesn't scale very well. Expect choppiness in cutscenes,. but general gameplay will be okay.

Of note, my 760 and 2500k achieve around 20-30fps at 2560x1440 with a mix of high presets. Had to scale shadows and ambient occlusion back a bit, they take a huge toll on performance.

For Evil Within, the community rep was a bit of a goose when it came to requirements and has demonstrated a lack of understanding when it comes to hardware, made evident from his interaction with forums. It'll run, don't worry about it, but don't get your hoped up with running all the sliders pushed to the right.

New consoles means we are getting higher res textures and those sum bitches take up a lot of VRAM. For a long time PC users have cursed out ports for lack of quality textures, but with 1440p becoming more popular with enthusiast and combine all the filtering on top of that, 4gb is going to become more and more common with videogames. 2gb will become the minimum, 6gb will be the new hotness.
