Does x360ce.exe look for x360ce.ini in %programdata%\x360ce?

I've been getting inconsistent results from different programs and read about the option of keeping a single x360ce.ini and x360ce.gdb in %programdata%\x360ce\. So in each game folder, I only have x360ce.exe and the xinput dlls. My thinking was to run each x360ce.exe, have it read the central ini and gdb, and update the dlls.

But this doesn't work because x360ce.exe complains that it can't find x360ce.ini in the same folder and it is not looking in %programdata%\x360ce\.

Would the workaround be to put x360ce.exe into %programdata%\x360ce\, run it once to update the dlls in the same folder and then copy the dlls to each and every game folder? Seems like a pain whenever I make a change to the ini.

I wonder if I can alternatively make a symbolic link to %programdata%\x360ce\x360ce.ini and x360ce.gdb in each game folder instead.

I thought x360ce.exe had to be in the same folder as the game exe so it could update the dlls to be specific to that game. If not, then is there any reason I would ever need to update the existing dlls that are in a game folder? Or can I copy those dlls once and leave them be even after I update the central ini or gdb?

no, not at all. the only dll that is supported is that contained in r848, you can rename it to any of those listed in the compatibility guide to try it with games, but ultimately it is the gdb and ini that matter where game configuration is concerned.

What me and tapeq need to do is to find some more people who want to contribute to the gdb so that we can cover a bigger array of games, sadly we can't just let any ole' person have permissions over the gdb....
