So, post some of then. These screenshots weren't meant to be posted anywhere, but I thought a thread like this would be a good idea and, since I have to start, I'm posting a few pics of some games I've been playing lately.

I'm not embedding all the pics because it's not necessary.

The games are:

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Booom.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Come here, you ugly clown.

Left 4 Dead

Give Blood. Save lives.

Need For Speed: Shift

I'm good at this.

Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl

Stalker has the most life-like sky I've ever seen in a game.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires (Steam version)

This is a strange game, in that all the fixes they did in DW8XL are missing such as the amount of soldiers onscreen as well as no longer suddenly popping into existence. They also removed the fame types from DW7E, and reduced it to mere Good/Neutral/Evil. That is quite some steps backwards, as the each fame type had a different ending. Oh well, since this is the first Empires game on PC, I'm giving it LOTS of tolerance at this point. :3

How does an Empires differ from a regular Dynasty Warriors?

My city isn't terribly original in its design (squares everywhere!), but it's doing a good job of teaching me the basics.

Also, someone made a mod which allows downsampling in the game. You can change your resolution through a slider as you play, it's great.

Is it just me or that that game missing a couple of colours?

Most of the colors disappear when looking from very far away, but the game does use a very simple visual design with very light colors mixed with lots of white.
I think it also depends by district. My main "normal" city has more of a pastel color palette, which made the colors of my agricultural district seem a little bolder. You might like those better:

Edit: I forgot to add: modding the game is VERY easy, which leads to people making their own versions of different building.
A developer who used to work on Simcity uploading a completely new building on Steam. It's possible to change the visual style of the game if needed, tho I like the simple design they went for.
Edit2: This is the building he created, I thought it was neat.

I like how you have heavy industry yet with trees neatly planted along the road. I wouldn't want to live there, though :p
Oh, don't worry. I just threw every oil plants together, created a lot of space, and threw all the houses together farther away.
To give an idea of the scale of the area: those oil plants are in the top left in a big square. The houses are a little to the south.
Those huge wind turbines are near the water.

I don't think my people could live near the plants. Mostly because those CONSTANTLY catch on fire. One day they'll blow up half the city.

The blur can be completely disabled, it's just the Tilt Effect.
I can understand not liking the visual design of the game, but I'm not sure I see the use in comparing a city-builder design to a FPS one.
It doesn't lead to a game "tanking", either way. Cities just sold 250k copies in a single day. Plenty of games wish they could sell this much in their first week total.
I can see it not being your thing, but it's the first time I see such a dislike for the visual aspect of the game, so I'm not sure it's such a great sin against gaming.

I'd meant Cities XL etc. of which the latest is XXL, not the old shooter.
And it's not such a major sin but to me it will feel like the game is perpetually in Alpha thanks to the lack of strong colours because it feels like an incomplete colouring job that was done more for the sake of telling things apart than making them actually looking the way they were meant to.
I do understand it's a good game, it's just a shame it feels so wrong to me but I will eventually get it.

Someone made a Mirror's Edge mod (color correction) for Cities:

And someone else made an isometric camera, like the old Simcity games

Btw, I recently started playing The Old Republic again. I'm currently on the planet of Hoth:

Ok, so now with colors.
Isometric Camera with normal game: http://i.imgur.com/w642Uki.jpg
And now, with a Borderlands mod: http://i.imgur.com/lm3b4p2.jpg
It looks better with a normal camera, but I forgot to take screenshots of it.
The normal game with a normal camera, but a "tropical" color correction and some SSAO: http://i.imgur.com/8q3dhHu.jpg

And random TOR screenshots, the game doesn't look too bad with supersampling:

The game for people who like road spaghetti porn

Latest Cities Skylines update adds the ability to tunnel roads and rails. Sadly no rail-metro transfer yet. No pedestrian tunnels either.
Still, a very important update overall, as you can see why:

You can quick save just about anywhere/anytime, it's temporarily disabled during quests. (Not during the ENTIRE quests, generally, just during sensitive moments)
GPU: Severely overclocked 7950
If I put the settings at Ultra (without hairworks), I get about 35-40 fps at 1920x1080.
I disabled some of the lesser post-processing effects (like blur / motion blur / Chromatic Aberration / Bloom) and reduced HBAO+ to SSAO / Foliage Distance to high. (Trees farther in the distance don't look as good, gives a good boost)

In return I used VSR (through a registry fix, 7950 not fully supported yet) to increase the resolution to 2560x1440. Framerate ultimately remains the same: around 40fps.
A large part of the beauty of the game comes from all the small details around, which doesn't look quite as good with aliasing. They make great use of the winds, with the trees bending around and the grass moving.
(Third picture shows some of it during a storm)

CDProjekt lied about so many things about this game.
"We have recorded 16 hours of sex scenes" "Every area that you see, you can walk to" "Every mountain that you see, you can climb" "This game actually has an ending"
IT NEVER FUCKING ENDS.

Potential minor spoilers await.

Sooner or later I'm just gonna go "Nah, go ahead and kill Ciri or some shit, I'm gonna go back to GTA".

Well that name certainly isn't misleading cuz those screens certainly are grim.

And how's it been? I remember there was quite a bit of hype for it after Diablo 3 was condemned as too cartoony around the same time the Path of Exile betas started. And then it just appears to have vanished/been very quiet.

Still very early in the game, but for 14$, I don't regret the purchase yet.
The basics are good: fine animation, nice skills, graphics work well, sound is good, music is great.
It remains to be seen how progression feels, but so far I mostly like it. I thought it might be a little limited when I first saw the skill trees, but the game lets you pick 2 different classes to mix and match. You also get additional skills in a system that is somewhat similar to the gems in Path of Exile, where you socket a magical component into your equipment. It's not exactly the same tho, I don't think you can "chain" them together here.
Rather, you pick up fragments of an object and when you have enough, they become a magical component that gives some boosts + a skill.

The game also has reputations to deal with, and I believe some town building elements, but I haven't reached that point yet.
The map is fun to explore, some nice stuff hidden here and there, some smaller dungeons that you don't HAVE to explore, but which are fun to clean out.
Hasn't been buggy so far, but only two hours in. Not planning to ask Steam for a refund, so I'm enjoying it. For 60$ I probably wouldn't buy it since it has some tough competition (Path of Exile, Diablo, Torchlight), but at 14$ it's great, and at it's normal price (28$) it's still not bad.
It's an Early Access game, so it's not complete yet. I believe the devs are aiming to finish it before the end of the year.
