- Team says the first game had the player doing “the same thing over and over and over again”
- Want to do more with level design, gameplay design
- Embracing sci-fi element
- Game starts off with thunder, torrential downpour, you’re in a huge oil derrick in the middle of an ocean
- Picks up immediately after the original when you enter the portal
- Not sure where you are when you enter the portal and land in the ocean
- Derrick’s occupants begin to shoot at you
- Game will have some “big vistas and multi-tiered areas”
- Multiple paths, team wants the game “to feel bigger and give players the sense that there’s more going on”
- Sea serpent attacks the facility
- “Having those types of ‘wow’ moments is really important”
- Quantum 3 engine still being refined
- Ford continues to go through the oil derrick, fights with the leviathan one-on-one
- Have to use one of the derrick’s mounted defense targets since normal weapons won’t work
- Serpent targets you and generator that powers the turrets
- Need to find the serpent’s weak points, stun him, then impale him with a harpoon from a turret
- Game has an airborne chase scene, take control of a ship’s rear gun emplacement, shoot pursuers (one enemy type is jet pack-equipped soldiers)
- More NPCs, Ford can interact with them
- There are other aliens besides Adams around the world who control territories
- Adams has been particularly successful, wants to take over the world
- Ford needs to get the help of the other aliens
- Atlantis is the hub, portals to other areas are there
- Some freedom in terms of which stage you’ll take on next
- One mission has you going to Washington DC, need to recover important artifact from the Smithsonian
- More alien growth in the city than in the first game, Drudge and Trust still fighting there
- “AI vs. AI vs. player now”
- Will happen upon fights already taking place
- “The AI in particular has been a big focus for us. We really want the enemies to come across as intelligent. In the first game, they just sit there waiting for you to show up. This time, we want it to feel like a living environment, like everyone was doing something before you got there.”
- Interactive elements in the environment (stuff moves, objects break, enemy knocks over soda machine for cover)
- Wider variety of hostiles, some specific to a location
- Atlantis: 30-foot-tall Guardians
- Siberia: Robotic wolves
- Differences between human soldiers, can carry any weapon (affects AI)
- SEGA/High Voltage will be holding a contest: Can get your name/face on a Missing Person flier or a Wanted poster
- 18 firearms from the original
- Have to tune the Phase Rifle by twisting Wiimote
- Deployable Turret: Set it down, control it with handheld display, can pull the trigger and have it autoaim or target manually
- Regarding the AsE: “…more puzzles and hacking minigames. It’s also a bit more of a detective tool now, we’re trying to put a lot more conspiracy objects and secrets in the environments to give you more reasons to use the ASE. Once you’ve scanned an object, you’ll be able to learn more about it in the game’s new data log. So it really plays into us trying to tell a deeper story.”
- ASE tied to Atlantis
- Using the ASE, can have a bit of control over the Guardians
- 12 players online
- due out this fall

The Grinder - Info:

The Grinder staying FPS on Wii, still looking for a publisher
March 30, 2010 by The News Team Filed Under: Wii

"The expansion of Grinder to 360 and PS3 and its subsequent change in gameplay and perspective has been somewhat misinterpreted as a universal change across all platforms. We still genuinely love the Wii and would ideally like to see a publishing partner pick up both a FPS Wii version and a third-person action version specific to the 360 and PS3. We have invested more than year into the Wii; the game is extremely fun, and frankly, we wouldn't want to see that work 'thrown away'. But when we decided to add the 360 and PS3 platforms it didn't seem to make much sense to jump on the rainbow chasing treadmill of trying to do the same game for such dissimilar consoles and end up short changing one or the other." - High Voltage's chief creative officer, Eric Nofsinger

Thought so, in the latest build DX12 is broken, but it works for 529, in fact except for a few games i tested, 529 is generally more stable and performs better. I only used the latest build for 1 or 2 games, (basically i assign each of my games a Dolphin build, it makes thing easier :p). On some occasions i do it for PCSX2 as well for more complex combinations/tweaks.

To bad Ishiiruka does it a bit better :p, at least from my tests, it takes better advantage of DX12, the proof of concept is still pretty much tied to the same arhitectual design as the DX11 backend was, but made to communicate with DX12 rather then 11, its with Ishiiruka's extra options where you see its potential, and their's definetly a lot of potential. I took quite a few games to 4k with it sporting most of the times full frames, but since i hate any kind of stutter and drops i went with the more stable DX11 backend, with that said as i say it does have a lot of potential.

I wonder if it has that annoying female voice that forces me to listen to her explaining the game... you know, the one that did that in all the Burnout and Criterion/Ghost NFS games and sounds like she's getting wet from explaining game features.
It's ridiculous AND annoying. Also, I know how racing games work so stop interrupting me kthxbye.

I really hate how it turned into a movie fest since Criterion took over... And yeah Underground was awesome, not only did i play it a lot, but it was the only game in which i used manual transmission, with a keyboard even, it allowed for awesome control and car maneuverability, my friends when hearing i was using manual "you stupid ? it plays like shit with manual" my friends after racing me when i used manual *mind blown*. I usually left them behind with at least one lap lol.

Yeah, the franchise became very annoying after most wanted.

I would also use the manual transmission with the keyboard, it made so much sense and was easy to grasp after playing some drag races. Racing over LAN was great back then.

Underground 2 was my favourite. And manual is usually faster in games. The auto-shifting tends to be sub-optimal (on purpose)... however, with this new NFS, since the manual is patched in the advantage might not be as large.
Underground 2 was good, but I always felt lost in it. I liked the first better, as you would just get to the race instantly.

I'm really into Grid Autosport at the moment on PC/Steam. I love playing Kart racers like the Mario Kart series and the Sonic Transformed series. I sweettalked Charline into getting me the Vita for Christmas back in 2014. I'm trying to get into Grid 2 on Steam as well.

I didn't want the previous Need for Speed and didn't care for the Most Wanted (that now is free) much either. I came close to beating the 3DS Need for Speed and did ok on the PC version, can't remember what it was called.

Grid (the first one) was awesome! As for NFS I think the series lost me at most wanted, so far playing the latest free most wanted, compared to others its alright, but we have to wait and see if it can actually hold me playing it. The last racing game i actually spend time and played properly was sonic allstar racing transformed...

sonic allstar racing transformed was one of the first games I picked up for my Wii U along with Mario Kart 8 and Lego City Undercover. I love Lego Island on PC and this is reminescent of it since its open and NOT a licensed franchise like all the other Lego games that have been out over the years since Lego Island 2.

I'm back to playing that Sonic game on my Vita and PC/Steam.

I might like Grid if I can reconfig the controls so I'm not playing worse than a drunk driver.
