Windows sync from cloud worked at retrieving all login and individual settings stuff from my Windows 8.1 account.
Glorious return of Start menu, with that Live Tiles hybrid thingy (best of both worlds, ain't it?)
Search box which kinda works like OSX's more recent Spotlight web-inclusive search.
Task View which works like a poor man's version of OSX's Expose/Mission Control.
Modern Apps run in windows and are resizable.
Explorer's Home shows favourite, recently accessed folders and documents. Explorer's interface is very clean (perhaps too clean?).
OneDrive sync from cloud worked, kinda gives Dropbox a run for its money now.
The frickin window borders are 1 pixel wide. HUZZAH!
Was gonna say Windows Store didn't work, but it connected now. So downloading all my Modern Apps.
IE11 is not as shitty. So stop it with the IE is slow jokes.
Overall, it feels very snappy. I really like it.
What's not working:
Yiynova driver didn't work.
Tried to install 3dsMax 2015, but the installer failed because it couldn't connect to the Internet. Will try again later, because the Windows Store also failed earlier on. Worked.
What to take note of:
There are already reports that Microsoft IS LOGGING EVERYTHING YOU DO in the Technical Preview. So don't be stupid like accessing sensitive materials such as banking, buying stuff from Amazon or browinsing for MLP porn.
Related again to DOA5 LR... I'm not the only one having it though, basically the Xbox One Controller does not function properly, if i use the default driver then in fights except for Y and B non of the buttons work... if i do this:
1.) Open Device Manager
2.) Right Click "Xbox One Controller"
3.) Select Update Driver Software
4.) Browse
5.) Let me pick
6.) "Microsoft Xbox One controller"
This has fixed other games that have problems with win10 and xb1 controller.
Then it works in DOA 5LR but the triggers don't work (again i'm not the only one that has this issue). And also since its new there are incompatibilities with some of my drivers or software, so i'll wait it out till i actually need to upgrade due to DX12, because windows 7 is working great.
Ah, i just thought it was a bigger issue. I guess that's another issue from developers not using API's properly but own ones. I have the same issue with FFXIII on Windows 10 because they also use own implementations rather than windows APIs if i'm no mistaken. You will wait longer i think because that's not a driver issue i believe but what i previously said. I think developers will have to patch the game so i will suggest you to post in there forums about it.

and it doesn't help if you (try to) install dx9 or direct input on win10?
Not that I think the game would still use dinput, but stranger things have happened...
Also, if you have stuttering in games, you could try running something (anything) that initializes directsound. Sometimes that fixes stutter.
That has mixed results for getting triggers to work with games but not with all games, DOA5 unfortunately is one of the apps that it doesn't work good with.
I wanted a complete Windows 10 iso. It's over 5GB, how am I expected to burn that to DVD? I don't have dual layer media, I have a BD-R/RW with files already on it. DL and BD-R drives are still very uncommon in most PC's, more so OEM systems. Any way to compress that without trialware, payware? Don't want anything like MagicISO just to compress a W10 dvd to fit on a DVD-R.
Well I did x86 & x64 because I have family that will be upgrading. Data is sparse and capped at 10GB /mo. We get 10 GB daytime and 10 GB extra off-peak per month. Right now we don't have enough off-peak data to download another image.
Can I compress the iso down to fit on a DVD or am I gonna be forced to re-download? I need it on DVD or USB (if I had one) so I can do a fresh install.
Nope. I take that it must be bootable? Perhaps an hdd partition might work but I've already made the iso and no data left to spare. I was hoping to squeeze the image enough for a dvd. I don't know why I downloaded x86 save for machines I might be installing it on needing x86 for whatever reason. I think traditional genuine Windows media is either x86 or x64 flavor and not both on the same dvd?
Why not just leave it on your harddrive until you can burn an image? Better yet, link the new computer to the one with the image and install it from your harddrive.
I'll see if my father has an 8+ GB usb drive. Other computers are outside the house and I looked into installing over a network but don't want to be bothered with that. I am connected to my parents wifi from my home behind them, not a stable connection to try installing an OS from.
I copied the files over, made the partition bootable and ran the setup from the partition within windows. I have to have some kind of bootloader to boot into it from outside Windows. Anyways the install ended up restoring my previous version of Windows with some error along the lines of failing first boot phase. Apparently I can't clean install without upgrading my existing Windows 7 install first.
I then tried to split the x86 and x64 files from the image so I could burn to DVD. Apparently I did something wrong there because the image/dvd was broken and the install could not continue.
I have an external drive that I need to find the cables for. I tried to run the setup last night from within windows and upgrade. Apparently I have to upgrade my Windows 7 install before I can clean install as I do not have a product key. I did so last night but it ended up reverting back to Windows 7 with this error:
The installation was not successful. In the FIRST_BOOT phase an error occurred during the MIGRATE_DATA process.
Updated Satty to Win10. Brightness control from the Action Center doesn't work. But having text input automatically switch to hand-writing when I have my stylus out is brilliant, hats off for that.
