Windows sync from cloud worked at retrieving all login and individual settings stuff from my Windows 8.1 account.
Glorious return of Start menu, with that Live Tiles hybrid thingy (best of both worlds, ain't it?)
Search box which kinda works like OSX's more recent Spotlight web-inclusive search.
Task View which works like a poor man's version of OSX's Expose/Mission Control.
Modern Apps run in windows and are resizable.
Explorer's Home shows favourite, recently accessed folders and documents. Explorer's interface is very clean (perhaps too clean?).
OneDrive sync from cloud worked, kinda gives Dropbox a run for its money now.
The frickin window borders are 1 pixel wide. HUZZAH!
Was gonna say Windows Store didn't work, but it connected now. So downloading all my Modern Apps.
IE11 is not as shitty. So stop it with the IE is slow jokes.
Overall, it feels very snappy. I really like it.
What's not working:
Yiynova driver didn't work.
Tried to install 3dsMax 2015, but the installer failed because it couldn't connect to the Internet. Will try again later, because the Windows Store also failed earlier on. Worked.
What to take note of:
There are already reports that Microsoft IS LOGGING EVERYTHING YOU DO in the Technical Preview. So don't be stupid like accessing sensitive materials such as banking, buying stuff from Amazon or browinsing for MLP porn.
^ Nope net connection is fine. I did make the mistake of changing it to my live account to login. Quickly changed that because my WLive password is too long, tedious to memorize and type in every time. It's a local profile using my local user account and password. Was working fine then after I shutdown and go to log in the next day my profile is broken and W10 keeps logging me in with a temp profile.

Cool. I wasn't aware of that. I'm concerned atm with fixing my profile so I can log in. The only viable solution I've found is tedious. It was working fine, nothing changed. Simply shut down and it was broken the next time I booted my system and tried to login. It's a shame to have to go through all that bs just to fix this.
It varies from case to case, overall it does feel and look a lot better, in mine, i avoided due to the Xbox one controller not working right with DOA5...
^Will threshold 2 be automatically added to the windows 10 iso ? Then i might way a bit as well... Not that i think i will be able to do all i planned this weekend.... To be honest i'd be happy if i at least manage to mount my GPU....
I believe it'll be available as a single consolidated update, and very likely either added to the RTM code as a new ISO, or a single mandatory update fetched and preinstalled when you upgrade to W10. This way, upgrades end with an updated system instead of requiring hundreds.
I don't think it's been confirmed, but I heard the 10th.
Supposedly, that's also when AMD will release their own drivers to follow both Threshold 2 and Fallout 4.
Meaning that if I update everything at once and something fucks up, I'll have no idea where the fault lies.
I hope MS will step up their game a bit with Windows 10 for phones... they have all but abandoned 8.1.
Continuously killing off your mobile OS isn't the way to get consumers. While at least this time the hardware won't need changing, the OS itself is almost a complete "reboot" yet again.
It's funny, where Windows on desktop continues to support legacy apps, it's the exact opposite on mobile.
Windows Mobile was completely dumped after 6.x, and Windows Phone 7 , 8 and 10 differ so much from each other that apps keep breaking (or just get delisted).
Maybe Nadella just isn't interested in it anymore. If so, it'd be better to discontinue it outright instead of still coming up with new phones and giving the false impression of working on it.
That's why i said that using Windows 10 on mobile devices is a downgrade and not an upgrade. I installed the latest version and while it works a little better i can't even open sms as the app crashes. There are also tons of bugs here and there and i'm slowly losing hopes for MS in the mobile sector. They absolutely have no taste and apart from that absolutely no idea how to drive there mobile division.
It's sad because they have some great ideas but fail in the execution...
I'm sure MS is preparing a full Android-based ecosystem, as an alternative to Google's mobile suite and licencing of stock apps.
They made and purchased too many purpose-specific Android apps for it to happen otherwise (why else would a company purchase the Echo lockscreen?). Only Samsung has a portfolio as exhaustive, missing only hosted email and a Youtube alternative (Dailymotion could've been it, but nationalist regulators blocked acquisition attempts).
Only showstopper would be the orgy of Metro-style UI paradigms clashing the way mentioned by Samor, the whole of which is still resoundingly rejected by the marketplace.
Microsoft don't need any Android-based eco-system what they really need is to keep there awesome coders, throw out the morrons in charge of the design and bring some new and fresh people that can actually do the job correctly. The best pick would be members of the android comunity in charge of new releases for rooted devices. If they do that i can see a chance but first they have to drop the entire Metro UI crap and actually bringing some taste into there solid body(system) that simply lacks the proper face and the right boobs so to say.
but they are making an Android-based eco-system, you can already get beta access for the "Arrow Launcher" as well. Even Office Lens, an actual useful app and originally exclusive to Windows Phone is ported to iOS and Android, and those versions are getting the updates now. Windows Phone 8.1 gets nothing anymore, all apps are outdated now (if not delisted), even the ones by MS themselves. The only app that recently got an update was Skype, and it's miles behind the other versions. Even the Xbox 360 still gets more support than current Windows phones.
When Win10 finally arrives on phones, at least the apps that are designed to be universal should be available... that will help things, but the support on their existing phones is completely rubbish now. I wonder how long they are going to support Win10 on phones once they get it out the door.

I guess the reason why they are porting it to other platforms is because of the Universal App marketing going around. As a developer yourself you know how important and great Universal apps normal and full trusted could be. My concerns are about there design decisions which for some strange reasons are really bad. For instance look at the Arrow Launcher from Microsoft, that app alone has more taste than everything on Windows phones. Why not just use such a UI as a default on phones? i'm not sure how much background about Universal apps you have yourself but i found out that they are using it even on Windows 10 on every single part of the system.
A bug revealed the other day on my phone a heavy use of Viewmodels and quite amount of bindings meaning they have all set. Basically they can swap UI anytime and use current information and even icons anytime as everything is vector based. Why aren't they pushing it is something i still can't comprehend. From a development standpoint they have a far more dynamic core than what iOS or Android has to offer in terms of customizations and flexibility but they are simply holding back. I have no idea why they are doing that or what are they waiting for but instead they seem to constantly push the Metro UI crap over and over as if someone at Microsoft is so passionate about it that can't live without it.
Why not just simply add a default layout and allow developers to freely change everything??? since there entire system is using MVVM and a well designed viewmodel system i see zero reasons why not allow people to fully customize everything and bring some life to a somewhat dead system, i think such a move would be awesome in the first place. They can come with a excuse but i think i've show several times here with my MVVM tutorials how easy, powerful and flexible a well designed MVVM system can be and they already have it!!! it's right there!!!
I just don't get it...... i know that non-coders can't see what i see on Windows phones which is why they probably do not understand but when you have the knowledge i have about the technology and power behind such a device you just can feel anger on why they aren't doing the right thing. I personally would love to smash the head of the one preventing such a awesomeness to be released the way it should be, it's frustrating. To me recently it looks as if MS themselves don't know how to use there own technology because is like being a capable wrestler and simply let you beat down by any random one.
Yeah, I like WinPhone 8.1, it's a shame they're leaving it as it is really nice, and the builds of 10 so far weren't as good. I hope they manage to get it right in the final build.
