using legit memory cards, controllers, and cds in an emulator (preferably pcsx)

Hey guys.
I'm working on building a steam box, but not just for steam games. I will be adding all the emulators for all of the systems that i own. (except ps3. emulation for ps3 doesnt exist.)
That being said, I have emulators for all of my retro consoles: atari, NES, Super NES, GameCube, and the ps1 and 2. For both psx consoles, I want to be able to use my real, actual, physical memory cards in the emulator. I have two memory card to ps3 adaptors, and I know where to find all the drivers to transfer the memory card saves to a mcr file, but i want it to go straight to the emulator. I don't want it to copy my saves to a file and then use the file, I mean I want to use the memory card itself in the emulator. Is there a plugin or other method to make this possible? I have the controller adapters for every system, so that's covered, and I'm going to add a cd drive for all the consoles that read cds. For the cartridge systems, I guess I will use roms.

Thanks.

are you saying that the plugin temporarily writes the mem card to a file, then I save changes to the a save game in the file, then it writes the file's data back to the memory card? If that's the case, that will work for me. I just want to be able to save stuff to my mem card in my emu then if i go to a friends house and use

If such plugin existed.... It doesn't though

Why cant you get the device that downloads and uploads to ps1 memory card... The emulator is not needed to support it... Just when you want to take the memory card upload the memory card data file from the emulator to the memory card...

Why must you use the real memory cards in the emulator, it will be slow...

Better just to upload/download when you need to through a dedicated program and not rely on emulators for this job

I guess I will have to deal with the file thing lagunarereturns was saying. The main reason why I want to do this real bad for ps1 and 2 is because I'm keeping my actual systems (just putting them in storage) so that if something were to happen to the steam box, I could go grab the system and continue playing because when I first setup my emulators I didnt have the memory card adapters and I had to start fresh from the very beginning of every single game I had. If its not practical at this day and age, ill just make the files and scrap the cards.

The way you ask the question is a little unclear, so I will try my best to explain: I want the system to feel as close as possible to it's actual counterpart, (same with all the other emus ive got so far) I have adapters/converters for all the consoles i've got just lying around taking up a lot of space, so I decided to take all of the adapters and make it into one big console that plays them all using all of the accessories (for example: a ps1 emu with the memory cards, controllers, and cds) without a lot of configuration every single time. From what I can understand, you are saying that I make a file of the mem card, play a game in the emu, save my game to the file, then write the file back to the memory card. To some, (me included) that could be a hassle. It takes away from being like the original.

Then make the software to remove the hassle as such no software exists and requires a full rewrite of emulators to support many different memory card readers, the different drivers and connections they use and the file formats they working with... What you are asking is impossible, what I am saying currently saying is possible is that when you finish playing the emulator then transfer the file to the physical memory card.... Do you not realise especially PS1 memory cards and ps2 memory cards is in a file format that windows can not read natively or in real time.... Heck windows still have a hard time dealing with macs files and its file format

Okay, thanks for telling me. I guess it is more of a pain in the ass than I would have thought, and that's okay. I guess having each emu be just like their actual sys is more of a hassle too. I'll stick with retroarch and writing my memory cards to the files and only using them when going places, no biggie, and it will be a win-win for playability and transfer, even if its not like an actual system. Agaain, thanks. I always can make the software like you said, but I am anoob at programming, and so I want to drop the discussion.
