Windows sync from cloud worked at retrieving all login and individual settings stuff from my Windows 8.1 account.
Glorious return of Start menu, with that Live Tiles hybrid thingy (best of both worlds, ain't it?)
Search box which kinda works like OSX's more recent Spotlight web-inclusive search.
Task View which works like a poor man's version of OSX's Expose/Mission Control.
Modern Apps run in windows and are resizable.
Explorer's Home shows favourite, recently accessed folders and documents. Explorer's interface is very clean (perhaps too clean?).
OneDrive sync from cloud worked, kinda gives Dropbox a run for its money now.
The frickin window borders are 1 pixel wide. HUZZAH!
Was gonna say Windows Store didn't work, but it connected now. So downloading all my Modern Apps.
IE11 is not as shitty. So stop it with the IE is slow jokes.
Overall, it feels very snappy. I really like it.
What's not working:
Yiynova driver didn't work.
Tried to install 3dsMax 2015, but the installer failed because it couldn't connect to the Internet. Will try again later, because the Windows Store also failed earlier on. Worked.
What to take note of:
There are already reports that Microsoft IS LOGGING EVERYTHING YOU DO in the Technical Preview. So don't be stupid like accessing sensitive materials such as banking, buying stuff from Amazon or browinsing for MLP porn.
I fixed my corrupted profile issue. Hope I don't have to deal with that again. As much as I hate what MS are doing at least Windows 10 has one pro for me that makes it worth it.. I get better performance for the OS and some games than Windows 7.
Since I upgrade to W10 Pro from windows 7 Ultimate x64 OEM are the same OEM restrictions in place as my W7? Would I be able to install W10 on my laptop and activate it or am I going to need to purchase another license?
Getting a new battery for my HP laptop today. Thinking about installing Windows 10 for the improved performance and better better life. However I don't want to bootleg and walk the plank, I want to "legitimately" activate it.
My understanding of Win10 licensing goes like this. If you have a laptop that has been upgraded from Win7 OEM to Win 10, you now have an OEM license for Win10 tied to that laptop. Therefore you can reinstall Win10 as much as you like on that laptop no problem. But because you have an OEM license , you can't transfer the license to a new motherboard, it will be tied to it.
Your windows 10 upgrade is tied to your mobo/cpu, so no. But if your windows 7 license allows installation on multiple systems you can install 7 do a free upgrade then you will have another windows 10 license tied to your laptop, apparently there's also a tool that enables you to use your windows 7 and 8 license to install 10.
Thanks. My license is tied to my desktop so that's a no go for the laptop. My dad did have a 32-bit Windows 7 home premium license for the laptop and hope I still have the key saved somewhere. I don't know if a 32-bit key is interchangeable, reading around has yielded mixed responses. For me 32-bit is old news and want to install a 64-bit OS so I hope that key works.
32 and 64 bit keys are interchangable within the same version of windows, it has been like that since vista if memory serves me right. Btw a home premium windows 7 will make you end up with a home edition of windows 10.
Build 14251 doesn't even update for me and keeps reverting back. Good job Microsoft, not sure how your engineers are breaking even more stuff with each update.
Well i am currently on 10, but it was a test install so i need a clean one, but i may end up with a free week from work, so i'm thinking of going back to 8.1 and if i decide certain things where better with 10 then moving back, but after thinking it through, i still kind of feel like on a beta with windows 10, so i would rather wait it out, for a complete support and polish.
It's your choice after all i just fail to see the difference to be honest. Windows has been on BETA since Windows 8. I just don't see 8.1 being better than Windows 10 seriously but it may be just me. I personally see Win10 to be the better BETA hehehehehe
Better support? most if not all Windows 8.1 drivers should work out of the box on Windows 10 since they didn't changed the driver layer like they did in the past. I think is just a perception thing in your case but don't listen to me...... at the end of the day is your choice and if you feel confident with 8.1 then go for it!
Of course i tried installing the drivers, but only the windows 8 version ones work, not the 8.1, made a complaint to the producer about it as well, will see what comes out of it.
Btw i do plan to move eventually, i enjoyed it more this time around, and i am keeping it on my mom's computer, but i would like some more polish on it before moving and hopefully some better support from my headphones manufacturer.
And i hopefully tecmo actually supporting x-input on DOA5 rather then a hacked D-input.
Talking about gamepads i noticed that most third party apps doesn't work on Windows 10 hence why i'm writing my own app to use it on games that either doesn't have pad support or have issues because devs suck or are lazy:
The app works with every gamepad and as you can see in the combobox you can choose the gamepad you want to use in case you have several ones. I have mainly tested with the XB1 controller and the 360 one but i did some tests with the DS4 since it was the reason why i made the app to begin with. Sadly i'm having some issues trying to get it working over the network as i wanted but maybe i just need some time to figure out what i'm doing wrong. So yeah the XB1 controller works and is the one working on that picture
I also found out that the DS4 when not using the inputmapper the triggers work as buttons but in general the axis are completely messed up taking half of the range a usual axis would. Basically you have a axis range and from the middle to 0 is one and from middle to max is the other one.
I don't know what kind of problems you have with DOA5 and Windows 10 but if for some reasons the gamepad doesn't work and only keyboard for example my app could be used to translate gamepad commands to keyboard and thus allowing you to play DOA5 with your gamepad of choice. Right now i'm not doing that though as my first goal is a little more advanced than that but i could extend it for such tasks and pretty much doing what Xpadder should do but that one doesn't work on Windows 10.
The app route gamepad commands to the PS4 through the network allowing you to use any gamepad on your computer to control the PS4 as you can see here:
As you can see in the video i got it working but ran into several issues after that. I will figure them out eventually but as of now i can extend the code to do other things as well and provide the "Xpadder" for Windows 10. The most interesting part is that i use a old code i wrote in the @ES days long, really long ago and that simple class contains a code that still works till this days to get gamepads working yet game devs out there are incapable to add proper gamepad support, that's a shame.
If my app can be of help for you i could modify it as it would be interesting to create a Xpadder-like app that works under every version of Windows.
Ah, never mind i would probably need something that makes the game treat my Xbox One pad as a direct input one, or something along those lines, if i remember right Kross said that's pretty hard to do, so as i said never mind, if you make it like Xpadder then it wont work properly since the DOA5 game will detect there's a gamepad plugged in and dissable the keyboard (yeah that's what it does it dissables keyboard if there's a gamepad plugged in x.x) ...
With that said, it looks like an awesome project! Best of luck with it!
Got it... the XB1 controller is Xinput and the game expects DirectInput which is why it doesn't work. Actually that's not that hard and since i plan to play the game later i may eventually do it(can't promise anything). Basically a wrapper around it would solve the problem and there are few libraries with both implementations that could make the taskt even easier for me such as SlimDX or SharpDX but i may collect some info first as i could be wrong.
Well yeah though in the menu the game still detects the xinput strokes wierdly, but when actually fighting it gets messed up, very wierd. Windows 8 though it works, i suspect that MS didn't implement Dinput support for the Xbox One Controller as good as in previous versions.
I guess if at some point you do have the motivation and desire to do it it would be another thing to look forward in 10 .
Are you sure you tried the game under the latest version of Windows 10 with all updates installed and not a old modified version? i'm asking because i installed the game on my gaming rig which use Windows 10 x64 with all the updates installed. I tested the game using my controller connected with the wireless adapter and with the USB cable to see if there is any difference and even over the network sharing the controller from my tablet to my gaming rig. No matter what i do the game as well as the controller works flawlessly and all buttons, axis and in fact everything works perfectly.
Yeah, menus, game, everything... i start a new story mode and see the first match in the ring. All buttons works and i can use the RT to block and everything just fine. I did the same for all configurations starting from the wireless adapter, USB cable and even through the network USB sharing. On all tests i got the same results.... no issues at all.
Well i just redownloaded the latest version with steam, made sure i had the latest version of windows and it doesn't work, throught menus including the pause one it works as intended, when in the actual game except for punch nothing works....
You play in full screen mode i guess. I played the game in windowed mode since I have the dark side edition could that be the reason?
