That's because you're running on a Hardware Render on the PS1 shots while comparing them to a software render for the SS shots. You're also enabling filtering on the PS1 shots while since it's only software rendering, the SS shots has none.
Not the best comparison. There are comparison videos on Youtube, but they aren't the best quality to compare. I can say from playing and beating the game on both the SS and PS1, the differences are minimal.
The PS1 has better 3d lighting effects while the SS had slightly better texturing.
For a better comparison, here are a couple screenshots using uoYabause(Sega Saturn) on my Shield TV with an OpenGL renderer. It's still lacking bilinear filtering, but the 3d model is much more smooth.
Damn, those are great. Well, I knew Yabause was good for 3d models because of the plug ins. Thanks for the contribution.
Well, I guess I won't use SSF to compare the games, because it doesn't look good for 3D models. If I get Yabause I'll definitely post some screens of Resident Evil running on that.
I'm using uoYabause on Android as it's a branch from the mainline development that includes many fixes for OpenGL Rendering not currently available on the PC version. It's gotten far more development time than the main branch recently, although I do see the main branch starting to pick up development as well. The Android uoYabause port is more compatible from the extra development.
That's not an option for me with my current setup. I heard Yabause had low compatibility with saturn games for PCs, but I wish they would work on that!
Damn it, the sweet memories :3, i finished RE2 over 24 times in row, done a lot of replays (in a row of course) for RE1 and RE3 as well, those games where some of the most epic i have ever played.
Nice screens btw @zach11 and @fivefeet8 i hope the PC version of uoYabause will pick up development as well.
Thanks dude! Eventually I'd like to get the PC and DS costumes captured but due to time and money restraints that might not happen for a while.
