Post your random gaming thoughtS!!

To start things off:

Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops will be playable in stereoscopic 3D when it launches worldwide on November 9.

Publisher Activision said that the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions of the shooter will be compatible with 3D-ready HDTVs and 3D PCs utilising active shutter 3D glasses.

Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia said: "Development of stereoscopic 3D began as an R&D project, but once we saw what the technology brought to the Call of Duty experience, what a great fit and how immersive it was, we knew that we had to develop it for Black Ops.

"Aiming down the sights of your weapons, flying in helicopters, rappelling down mountains, and moving through highly detailed environments are just some of the awesome experiences you will have in 3D with Black Ops."

He added: "We made sure the experience is seamless for gamers to use with a simple menu option to enable stereoscopic 3D or disable it at any time whether playing in the single player campaign, multiplayer or Zombies."

Black Ops multiplayer was looking more ambitious than we imagined when we went hands-on last month.

They seem really keen to force this 3d crap on us :|.

Actually the pc steam version is based on the arcade version of the game (which runs on a windows 7 machine), and on which the ps3 version is based on. My only real gripe is the missing stages, hell i'd even get them as dlc, and poor online modes.
the fact still remains is they ported the ps3 version to pc which looks worse than the arcade version

Tried some more games, Hawx doesn't like it either, was dissapointed that on the PC i will be limited to ACE Combat Assault Horrizon with this controller, till i saw that the game has an original mode for controlling the aircraft lol, now that i have full control of the plane it feels like a cool game XD. I like that this and The Crew have japanese voice acting XD. Its pretty nicely done lol.

Cool, though Youtube doesn't do it justice :p, its not just you, like i said unfortunately the Devs still haven't properly fixed the Xbox One pad, DOA5 is the one reason i'm glad i did not sold my DS4 since i'll need it for this just one game (everything else XB1 :p).
Yeah, youtube makes the image softer and the quality loss is visible sadly... at least i kept my promise :p

(Updated on 9/29/2016 6PM PDT)

We have new information regarding the update (Ver.1.09) for the PC that was distributed on 9/22.

After providing the update, we have received many inquiries, and after investigating the issue we have discovered that part of the data in the update contains a program with some security risks.

We have also confirmed that the quick-fix patch we distributed on 9/23 to address the issue PC users were having with launching the game, also fixes the security risk noted above.

We are asking users who did not update their game with the 9/23 quick-fix update, to update their game using the steps below:
  1. If you have Street Fighter V running, please close the application.
  2. Please keep the Steam Client running. The update for Street Fighter V should begin automatically.
  3. Once the update is completed, close the Steam Client and restart your PC.
*The update won’t be applied until you restart your computer.

By performing the update using the steps listed above, you can remove the security risk, but we are also preparing a tool that will remove the unnecessary file from your system and we’ll provide this in the next few days.
2GB update lol Capcom also 'some security risks' hah!

Yeah, seems like is a bigger of a deal than i actually thought it would be. That being said i wonder what will happen when the Scorpio drop next year and most specially after reading the article below.

“That said, the opening price point for the Xbox One S, and the different hard drive sizes, that is a critical part of this whole product. When I think about it as a product line, you should expect the pricing to kind of be in line with that.”
At this point in time, one can wager that unless Microsoft finds component exuberantly high, the company would want to start things at the $399 mark.

Such a price tag combined with the talented Surface design team which is the one responsible for the XB1 S and later the Scorpio as well i can see that device selling like hot cakes. I hate to say it again but Sony woke up a sleeping giant.

I think, you know, unless you’re massively ignorant you have to respect Microsoft’s power. I mean, more money than God, very much like Sony a heritage of success in other industries. If Microsoft puts their mind to anything and they put enough money behind it, they’re going to learn.

MS claims their GPU has 6tflops of computing power. The recently released 1070 has 5.8 tflops of power and costs 380$ on its own. It also has a slower bandwidth than what Microsoft advertised for the Scorpio. It's WEAKER than the Scorpio for 380$.
The scorpion will most likely use AMD's answer to the 1070/1080, so sure, I expect more bandwidth and 6tflops at a lower price. But even dealing directly with AMD, I'd be surprised if MS could get those stronger cards at 300$ compared to the weaker cards at 380$.

And if MS spends 300$ on the card alone, the console isn't gonna be 399$. Only way this would happen is if the GPU is not actually 6tflops OR if MS sells the consoles at a loss just to gain a piece of the market. And I could see this happening, I could see MS willingly losing money just to gain a part of the market. That's what they actually did with the original Xbox, selling consoles at a loss.
But that's not Microsoft being geniuses. That's just paying your way to a stalemate.

As for the sales: it's a bit funny to celebrate the sales of a single week, and only in the UK. In September, too.

In 2016, Sony actually increased the gap between the PS4 and the Xbox One. The total sales (since launch) are 43m PS4 sold and 22m Xbox One sold, meaning that for every Xbox sold 1.9 PS4 were also sold since launch.
But in 2016 exclusively, the sales are 6.7m PS4 and 2.6m Xbox One. That's 2.5 PS4 sold for every Xbox. Sony increased their lead on MS, instead of MS gaining ground on Sony.

Sony is releasing VR in October (if I got that right) and the Pro in November. Their goal is obviously to ride the wave of November sales all the way to the bank. But if MS wants to turn things around, they need a bit hit in November to take the wind right out of their sails. To make sure PS VR and PS Pro are both dead in the water. This is their opportunity to change the momentum.
For the time being, it's the opposite. Sony is increasing their leads in hardware sales and maintain a lead in software sales (in 2016, 1.97 PS4 game sold for every Xbox One game sold).

I'm not celebrating anything here nor calling MS "genius" I just see a more agressive MS here coming with some success i personally didn't expected and i'm quite surprised as i tend to foresee things but this time didn't worked out. For instance i didn't thought the XB1 S will do that well knowing Sony was going to release the PS4 Slim and the Pro.

As for the price of the Scorpio... they have to stay on that price tag else it won't be competitive as history has shown that everything above that is DOA most certanly... also the price we pay for a GPU isn't the price Sony or MS pay for those parts as they pay far less. Also we shouldn't forget that AMD chips are far cheaper than Nvidia ones. The one point i made is the fact that a sleeping giant woke up to turn things around and it's going to be interesting to see what's going to happen.

I know that they pay less, I even reduced the price greatly in my post. But we're speaking about a STRONGER card. And AMD cards are cheaper, but we're not talking about 50$ cheaper.
Based on the Nvidia price, a 6tflops card from them (without the extra bandwidth) would be 405$ for a consumer.
How big do you expect the price drop to be for Microsoft? Do you expect AMD to sell them a 405$ card for less than 300$? (250 or so?)
Keep in mind, MS says their bandwidth is higher. The theories are that this comes either through more VRAM or better VRAM. Both would increase the price further.
My 300$ guesstimate is already very nice for Microsoft.

And that leaves 100$ for MS to build the rest of the console. CPU, HDD, those are also expensive. I expect either a below-6tflops console for 399$ or a 6tflops console for 499$.
The PS3 released for 499$ and 599$ in 2006. 499$ in 2006 is similar (after inflation) to 590$ in 2016. Similarly, Sony described the PS3 as a premium console.
499$ isn't the MOST attractive price, but it would allow Microsoft to stop facing Sony head-on (which has been a failure so far) and sell their console for a lower price than the PS3 sold for (which was still a success).

And for gamers who don't want to pay 499$? They have the Xbox One S still available.

The PS3 was a success because it was a hell of a console which is why i love that console until this day. MS will most probably sell the hardware at a loss because at the end they can afford it. Lowever than 6tflops? i don't see that happening because they clearly stated 6tflops and they will end as liars once again and i highly doubt they want to repeat their mistakes again. If Phil say is in the price range of the XB1 S i guess we can believe him as he is not like the previous fools that were on charge. That dude is a gamer and he knows pretty well what he do.

In the interview, he's not saying that the price will be similar to the price of the Xbox S. He's instead referring to the S having different prices depending on the size of the HDD, and the Scorpio aiming for something similar. He talks about the opening price point (299$ for the cheapest S) and having different sizes (HDD) being part of the product line, and the Scorpio following a similar philosophy.
It wouldn't make sense to sell the Scorpio for the price of the S, either. You're just cannibalizing your own consoles. It'll be a "product line" of various Scorpios with a cheaper "opening price point" (to use his words).

A 499$ Scorpio is perfectly possible. And yes, the PS3 was a success because it was a hell of a console, but Microsoft wants the Scorpio to be a hell of a console too.
And really, this is their best bet. Right now, MS is going head-to-head with Sony, and they're losing, Not only are they losing, but Sony is selling more consoles than before (overall, relative to MS).
A 499$ and powerful Scorpio gives MS their own space to fight in, while the cheap 299$ to 399$ Slim allows them to remain competitive with gamers on a budget. More importantly, it allows them to deliver on their promise of a 6tflops console instead of lying (or selling the console at a HUGE loss).

They'd be covering their bases, too. A 299$ console, a 399$ console, a 499$ console, and maybe a big HDD Scorpio at 599$. Regardless of who you are, Microsoft has you covered, come get the perfect console for you at the nearest Target!
