Made this topic for Visual Novel discussion, the topic should be safe enough to keep it out of the bin and rather then using a one for recommendations having a dedicated one is better.

Lately Majikoi has resurfaced and is back on my mind a lot, picked up a quickie with The Hound's route today:

It was so fun :3. Can't wait for A-1 translation, but i'm thinking of pulling a marathon this weekend with the agave route :3.

In the end i went for Koiken Otome:

Reminds me of infinite stratos a bit but its super power not mech like infinite stratos. Overall fun, my first route was Touko:

And i really loved it, i think i'm gonna go through with this one till the end, the translation is also very nicely handled, fan groups are really the best.

So after the success i had with chitrans with Majikoi A3/4/5 i decided to go for a novel i knew nothing about, see how i handle it, i went for Youkoso! Sukebe Elf no Mori e:

Basically meaning "Welcome! The forest of Perverted Elves" and as you probably guessed from my avatar i ended up really enjoying it to my surprise (not to mention i love Aoi Nagisa's artwork personally), this isn't the first nukige that i ever tried, but this is the first nukige that i actually ended up enjoying, the story is simple but nice, do to some circumstances you end up being transported to the world Alfheim, a world of elves, elven females that is, in both chocolate and vanilla flavors (aka there's both dark elves and the regular elves), your role, well in the game's words engage baby making copulation with the entire population to ensure the perpetuation of the species, because the old way of bringing new life unto the world of Alfheim no longer works, aka praying to the trees and new life emerging from them. Of course they are all maidens that are unaware of the ways of copulation and baby making (well except the "elder"), which leads to some funny and sometimes even interesting situations. Oh yeah and while all this is going on you also try to fix the conflict between the dark elves and elves on the side. Anyway having loads of fun with it so far, and i'm glad i'm able to keep up with the story and dialogue :3.

Well i just finished Princess X:

And my thoughts ? Well.... For me it was solely worthwhile for Naja's route (the lamia inspired one), the story had a nice ring to it, and characters where interesting... The rest of the novel however... is strange to say the least, there's a lot of evil routes i didn't care for nor recommend, the machine empire route was weird, no route for The Lady (the spider woman) . But up till here i'm fine because just because they are there you don't have to go along those evil or disturbing routes right ? Well wrong... to unlock some of the extras for some of the harem routes you need to complete all of the routes... and this i had a big problem with...

So in conclusion ? Worth for "The power of a Kiss" route, which i really really enjoyed, but can be dropped afterwards.

PS: kiddy Naja one of the cutest things ever >.< :

Well with Tsujidou-san Jun'ai road being translated, i started it around two weeks ago:

Basically a novel where your as usual an average student, the twist is you end up getting mixed up in the bussiness of the tree top delinquent leaders, (well Maki isn't so much a leader but more of a one man army).

Finished the true end for Ai, but right after restarted with the normal ending:

I really hated how the protagonist kept trying to change her into his "ideal" woman without giving any thought how much strain it will put on her. It felt to selfish and one sided i really hated him. This is why i enjoyed the past midterms route, (basically not having her dye her hair), it didn't take it as far with changing her while also looking for some compromises.
Black Darkness Sky White Light

As i said in the spoiler though in this one the protagonist really irritates me, i hate his idiotic design/visual representation, all males in this novel have some decent designs but it feels like they trolled with him. Its like they choosed a generic female template and gave it a few male features, he looks way to stupid to me... And his attitude on Ai's route... I wanted to punch him so many times...

Another problem for me was at the route split although from a story point of view its actually nicely played, i can't get into it, or have times where it feels a bit unbearable, i still can't get myself to complete Renna's route cause of it, although i did manage to complete Maki's route, to go into more spoilish detail:

The break up with Ai leaves such a sour after taste for me that i couldn't focus on the other routes, whenever she appeared, the situation feels just wrong for me, Maki's route was great, the fight at the end was so freaking awesome! The story well played, but because of the breakup i could hardly get into most of it, it was especially hard seeing Ai suffer...
Black Darkness Sky White Light

Since i still can't get invested into Renna's route for some reason i decided to start Tsujidou-san Virgin Road:

Yoiko was one of my most favorite characters up their with Ai, so i really wanna play her route (maybe i will be able to get back to Renna afterwards). Got scared for a second when Chiitrans didn't hook up with the novel (damn you creator's update), but fixed it with ITH, So far enjoying it:

Spoiler
They play out the breakup better in this route imho, at least so far.

Black Darkness Sky White Light

Though one of the things that really impressed me in this novel is the music, omg is the OST awesome! Better then Majikoi even.

I started Anekouji Naoko to Gin'iro no Shinigami:

Very fun so far :3, it has a nice MC, so far i like all of the characters, and will definitely go on Kirsti's route! I really love Minato Carnival's works :3.

I also dropped Chiitrans lite (has all sort of problems with windows 10), i'm now using ITHVNR+Translation Aggregator (with the Atlas, Google, mecab and jparser dictionaries), its a step up i gotta say.

Finished Kirsti's route (the one in uniform, she's a finish special unit soldier kind of in the same league as Margit) in Anekouji Naoko to Gin'iro no Shinigami:

I had a great time playing it! To be honest its even more simple and straightforward then many Majikoi routes, but due to the narration, characters and comedy it more then makes up for its shortcomings in the story department. The MC is pretty cool/awesome in this one and all characters are interesting, nicely done.

Well i ended up finishing Onizuka's route in Minato Carnival FD:

Although i started Anekouji for Kirsti (the finish special unit soldier), Onizuka quickly became my favorite, i couldn't wait to play Minato Carnival FD for her route to be honest. It was obvious from the start she was strong but she's way over the top, seems that she's one of the top 3 strongest, if not the strongest character in Anekouji from what i've seen yet, definitely at least at the level of Tsujidou or Maki. Not only that she's quite cute and an excelent cook :p, loving her mixed personality as well. It was a really fun route, but it had one shortcoming, it ended to soon, it left to many things up in the air, compared to other Minato done routes it felt like it ended midway. That said its better then nothing :p.

Now i will probably be going back to Tsujidou-san no Virgin Road and complete Maki's route.

Well i went back to Tsujidou-san no Virgin Road and finished Maki's after route... i expected something longer... it was to short... Fun but short.

--------------------------------------

Well now going back to Tsujidou-san no Jun'ai Road, to do the routes i left behind, basically some of Ai's extra routes and Renna's route. This one is translated to english btw:

#57 ·
Finished Renna's route in both Tsujidou-san Jun'ai Road and the follow up in Virgin Road, it was really great! Though even in this one, Ai still feels for me like best girl :p. But it was tons of fun!

But more so, I have finally unlocked the secret route For Tsujidou AI XD, i'm now going to restart from the Jun'ai Road and go through the whole route and do Virgin Road and Minato Carnival FD!

#58 ·
I finished the Ai's true/secret route in Tsujiou-san no Virgin Road. IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING! And that PLOT TWIST! I now also understand why its called Virgin Road, in japan the expression describes (used spoiler because its relatable to part of the plot):

The march you take towards the altar when getting married

To be honest with Jun'ai Road especially on Ai's route i was a bit disappointed with the protagonist, but they completely fixed that for me in this fan disk, and coupled with this story, now it all just seems like awesome character development, his pretty cool when it all comes down to it, and pretty surprising, amazing even at times!

This true route is also comparable with the Agave/Kouyuki Route in Majikoi in terms of plot, action, build up and suspense, its the best one by far as far as the Tsujiou series is concerned. To go into detail, in terms of Plot the Agave one may have been more complex to be honest, but in terms of build up and suspense i believe this one takes the cake.

Character wise i will also like to mention that a lot of the cast shined in this one, they managed to really make us cheer for most of our Shonan delinquents and bring them all to the spot light. Even some none delinquent ones really shined or turned out surprising, without spoiling one really big surprise was Kouchou for instance.

When i started this novel i also thought that Tsujiou and Maki where at Itadaki Tatsuko's level (when she's in her serious mode), but i was wrong, as far as strength and technique goes they are definitely people who have past the wall of human strength and are probably above most 4 devas (except Momoyo of course). Them and Makoto (which so far this series indicates she's even worse) are probably some of the most powerful characters in this series universe (there's also another really powerful character introduced in this fan disk but its better i leave her discovery to you :p)....

To wrap up, i honestly think that translator was to quick to disregard the fandisk, if he would have gave it a chance i would really be surprised for him to say its not worth translating. But each to its own, if your able to play non-translated VN's you really need to play this one, Jun'ai Road was a nice read, but this is a step up in every regard, its very well done, and its a lot more action packed and with an amazing build up during many of its routes. The after stories (except for Ai's true ending) don't really add much are fairly simple and short, but Azusa's, Yoiko's and especially the true/secret Ai route are amazing! Thus i leave you with some of my favorite scene CG's as well (in spoiler but i will try to pick some that don't spoil to much):

As for now... I'll see if there's any follow up in Minato Carnival FD, if not, will proceed with doing the new character's route in the Tsujidou series in Minato Carnival FD.

#59 ·
I just finished the new character Aketashi Yui route in Minato Carnival FD (below in the spoiler a few selected CG's):

To be honest i wasn't really sold on her just from the cover work, but she was so cute :3 (and horny lol), since Onizuka's route had its let downs i was a bit a bit skeptic, but freaking hell, what a route! It was quite a ride! It had everything you wanted from a minato soft/carnival game! The artwork is great, her character and the cast is great, story is interesting, and i'm looking forward to the new routes, as i said this one isn't after stories but:

It takes place 1 year after the breakup, meaning in their 3rd year of Highschool

So its brand new routes for the whole selection! Can't wait to do them! The only wierd thing is Ai's voice, something must've happen to the Voice actor oO.

I finished the second part of the Minato Carnival FD, the part related to Anekouji Naoko to Gin'iro no Shinigami, the overall the Naoko+Kirsti route was awesome, plot, story and action was amazing and very engaging, the problem is that it left kind of opened ended/up in the air:

the relationship between Naoko, Kirsti and Shinkurou.

Here are some CG selections:

On the other hand Lorri's route (which to be honest is more of an harem route) wasn't heavy on the plot, action and story, but relationship wise it was conclusive enough,, it was pretty damn hilarious though.

There was also an ending with the school president it was short, but hilarious, it really fitted her lol.

As for Onizuka i already covered it, her route was great but it felt like they stopped midway as far as their relationship and herself goes.

I only got the last part of this fan disk left, "Carnival VS" which is a crossover scenario for Tsujidou-san and Anekouji, on one hand i'm really looking forward to it, on the other hand, with this my wonderful journey with Minato Carnival's works ends here(The Tsujidou-san and Anekouji novels), which makes me really sad i've been immersing myself in this novels for weeks and i had SO MUCH FUN! I don't want it all to end
.

#61 ·
Well i did it, i finished Minato Carnival FD:

Mainly also the last scenario/mode "Carnival VS" truly worth of its name, it had a festive feel all through, AND IT WAS GREAT! Its a short scenario, BUT SO MUCH FUN! various characters are shown that where published by Minato soft, but the focus is on the Majikoi, Tsujidou-san and Anekouji characters, it is very fun to see them interact with each other and its even more hilarious when characters sharing the same voice actor interact (like Margit and Ai, Maki and Momoyo, Tora and Jun etc). Despite how good it was i did kind of got teary eyed near the end knowing that for now this is the last title directly related to their series that i can play, the scenario is also a celebration of their being 5 years since the establishment of Minato Carnival.

Amazing fan disk with great content, some routes did fell like they where cut short/in the middle, but except for that all content was amazingly fun and nice!

I've been playing "If My Heart Had Wings" inbetween other games (android version). Not completely finished it yet... I was a bit dissapointed that late on in some scenarios the translation suddenly takes a nosedive.

Fun story anyway. The star of the game is the duck, of course.
