Please help me, I'm begging you.

The newest version of Daemon tools (which is among the most
popular ways to mount isos and such) has this damn toolbar which I accidentally let install itself. I checked the daemon tools forums about how to remove it, and it said it should be in control panel then add and remove programs and it was indeed there so I deleted it. But...firefox 3 still shows it for some reason! I need it removed, please help, I am really suspicious about it. Please help

Im sorry Im sort of a damned idiot when it comes to computers
unfortunatly. What do you mean extensions? In firefox, because i dont
see any "extensions" here. I dont see any extensions in add or remove programs or in control panel in general

    interesting.....

I dont see it in extensions...
but I still see the toolbar thing.

To be technical it doesnt seem really like a "regular" toolbar:
it seems to be a navigational toobar where you can type in searches

Needless to say that sounds very wierd for a company that makes
iso mounting products to include, and i hear that it is adware

im really starting to get nervios... I look for solutions on how to remove
it and amazingly there are absolutly none that apply to me

    This is very very frightening

The sad thing is that i just recently reformatted my harddrive, so having to do it again just for this is very very upsetting.

There has to be a way out of this hellhole

But will that remove the adware? Does changing it to google
simply convert it to a google toolbar?

If its an adware, your antivirus should be able to remove it.

Try uninstalling daemontools lite and then reinstall it without the toolbar.

spybot and mcafee both dont seem to detect it

Also I tried reinstalling, unchecking everything
having to do with the toolbar, etch, but that did not stop it apparently

It just added a search engine as an option. Pick another engine like google and you are just fine. It is not an adware. Firefox 3 has many search engines to pick and this just is another one to choose from, no big deal. You can even add many others on your own if you want so i don't see the problem. They search in the search engine's site and return the result, they don't install anything in your pc, but some script to do this job like a shortcut in firefox as an option.

And the search engine's search bar is a feature of Firefox 3 and not an add-on bar. They just put their own search engine as an option in that feature of firefox 3. And that's why spybot and mcafee can't detect there is something wrong, since basically you want to delete an integral feature of your own browser.

well that is ok I suppose

but there is still a problem: when daemon
installs it asks to install an adware in the same
place it asks about the toolbar and every single other
function so I was careless, not knowing daemon would
change like this and allow adware, so when i first installed it
i left the check in the box. I reinstalled and unchecked it

    Did that remove the adware?

    Welcome to the forums.

Next time please don't revive a 3 year old thread that was already solved.
