    Could anyone share example file?

    3.9. Cheat Codes.

ePSXe supports GameShark cheat codes. You can load cheat codes in the
emulator creating a file called "cheats/SXXX_XXX.XX.txt"
(where SXXXX_XXX.XX is the PS-EXE name of the game, which you can see
    enabling the ePSXe Log Console).
For example in Final Fantay 8 US-NTSC the file name is:

    "cheats/SLUS_008.92.txt".

ePSXe supports until 256 codes per file. The file format is:

    #description of cheat code 1
    XXXXXXXX YYYY
    ZZZZZZZZ AAAA
    #descripion of cheat code 2
    NNNNNNNN MMMM

For example for Final Fantasy 8 US-NTSC, it could be "cheats/SLUS_008.92.txt":

    #Zell level 20
    800778a4 4a38

    Currently, only 80XXXXXX, 30XXXXXX, 50XXXXXX, 1F800XXX gameshark codes are
supported, the rest will be ignored.
You can find GameShark codes in a lot of webpages in internet, like:
    http://psxdatacenter.com
    http://www.gamegenie.com/cheats/gameshark/ps1/index.html
After that, re-load your game, and you will be able to enable/disable the
gameshark codes from the menu "cheat codes" on gameplay (the codes are
    disabled by default).

Other way to get cheat codes working is download PEC
    (http://pec.emucheater.com) for in game cheating.

Squall-Lionh@rt, http://pec.emucheater.com is working for you? For me it say "The domain emucheater.com may be for sale. Click here for details".
From what I've understand http://www.gameshark.com/ was good but now it ask you to enter the user and password...
By the way, when you enter some gameshark codes you need to respect the region. For example if you have a PAL game and enter a gameshark code for NTSC version there is a probability to not work.

To get/download PEC, you should go to the author's website: http://pec.duttke.de/download.php

    hi,
I am also experiencing problems with PEC. I run epsxe 1.8 and the emu will not let me choose the PEC video plugin in order to run the cheats. Tried with epsxe 1.7 and get the same problem. Is there something to do in order to be be able to choose this video plugin acting as a launcher?

    Thanx

edit: I can choose now the video plugin with the wrapper but it seems that PEC does not send the cheats to the game (keeps displaying the window saying that it's waiting...). Any idea?

edit2: I found the answer. The problem (i run win7 64) is DEP. So I changed DEP settings to allow epsxe and PEC to run freely. Hope it can help other people.

DEP does not interfere with PEC at all, you're just not doing it right (somehow or another)

Well, thanks but I changed nothing in my install but DEP... and suddenly it worked.

an application has to be built to use DEP for it to be affected by DEP

Epsxe is not built with it.

its probably (and quite likely) an issue with your cpu (a known issue in AMD K8 and Intel Core 2 duo cpu's that required a bios update.)

I just send a cheat over to PEC just fine in 1.8, without touching DEP.

If you set DEP to the exclude list setting in system properties, this applies DEP to everything except what is in the list, even if it is not built to use DEP (this would be a reason it would interfere with PEC and EPSXE)

ok I see, thanks for the explanation. My CPU is a a core I3 (never updated my bios though). Anyway, the thing is that it works that way. So I thought it was a good thing to share.
Quote: "If you set DEP to the exclude list setting in system properties,..." ---> that's what i did.
It's been 13 years now that I started using emulators and for what I rememeber so far, emulation is not an exact science. Alchemy mostly rely on a given configuration and what works on one's PC might not on another machine. It makes emulation interesting to me.

Well that cpu shouldn't have a problem with it.

It could just be that you enabled the exclude list mode for something else and now epsxe has it forced on so needs to be in the exclude list as well. Its better to just disable it entirely with bcedit than to mess with the exclude list.

i've made a quick'n'dirty converter in python from PEC codelist.inf into the new epsxe 1.8 cheat format:
    pec2epsxe
    currently cheats comments are removed

I'm having a lot of problems getting cheats to work with epsxe since i changed to windows 8 and epsxe 1.8. Lots of cheats arent working with the built-in cheats and with pec. Its really weird and i have no idea why it isn't working anymore. Any clues squall?

Most likely a kernel incompatibility caused by the compression of shared memory.

    Windows 8 sucks.

How are you sending the cheats to the plugin? tried doing it while the game is running?

Yeah same way i've been doing it for a decade. And yeah, Win8 causes more problems then it solves.

pec wrapper? not sure what that is. Normally just use the pec video plugin and send the codes while ingame.

edit: oh i see it, nice. ill give it a try.
Having a different problem now though, with win8 and epsxe:
With the soft-gpu drivers (native epsxe and peops) if i try to press alt+enter to full screen, the game kinda freezes and goes to really low framerates for no reason. If i start game in FS it works fine, but if i minimize and go back in, itll start freezing again.

    playing on my laptop btw
