Yes, I do realize how dumb I may seem for asking, but I really love old games and I want to play some of them. My computer is a Toshiba Satellite L745 with an Intel Core i3-2310M CPU processor with 4.00 GB of RAM and a 64-bit Operating System.

I really want to play Silent Hill 1 on epsxe, but if I ever try playing the game, the game lags to like 10 fps. This is the configuration I have for my video plugin and sound plugin.

Main Video Plugin: P.E.Op.S. OpenGL Driver 1.78
    Resolution & Colors
    -Fullscreen Mode: 640 x 480
    -Window mode: 640 x 480
    -Color depth: 32-bit
    -V-Sync: On

    -Quality: R8 G8 B8 A8
    -Filtering: 2
    -Hi-Res Textures: 0
    -GFX Card Vram: 0

    Use FPS Limit: on
    Use Frame skipping: off
    Auto Detect: on
    Fps Limit: off/60.0

    Off-Screen drawing: 2
    Framebuffer Textures: 2
    Framebuffer access: 1
    Alpha MultiPass: On
    Mask bit: On
    Advance blending: Off

    Sanlines: Off
    Line mode: Off
    Unfiltered framebuffer: Off
    Force 15 bit framebuffer: Off
    Color dithering: Off
    Screen smoothing: Off
    Disable screensaver: Off

Sound Plugin: Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41
    Audio device
    DirectSound: Buffer size: 64

    Audio Out method
    Thread: Async mode: Simple

    Show realtime config window: off
Wait for XA buffer is free: on
    Cache VAG decode: off
    Fine tune: 0
    Reverb: Neill's

    Special game fix
    Update before accessing register: Off
SPU IRQ - Wait CPU action: Off
SPU IRQ - Force interuption flag7: Off

Please tell me what I have wrong, because the lag is messing me up whenever I try to play Silent Hill.

The laptop itself is whats wrong, unfortunately. Intel HD intergrated gpus are not ideal for anything, let alone gaming, especially when using only 4gb ram since their crappy gpus only use system ram, of which you are lacking.

I would have told you at this point to put all the settings on the lowest, but it appears you have already done that. I suggest you use the GPU core plugin and put everything on low- the graphics will look like utter rubbish but at least framerates will improve. By how much will it improve I have doubts.

If that doesn't work, instead use ePSXe on Android- preferrably on one of those Android TV boxes or any good tablet.

I personally would have spent the £500 on building a pc that could play any game you could possibly throw at it, forget emulation.
