I know the mods are doing what they can, but automated spam threads seem to appear more and more often and it's getting quite annoying. Perhaps some of the vertical scope staff can do something about it?

Just checking the New Posts section shows how they have plagued it. They tend to target Open Discussion. Perhaps threads with links as the title should be obliterated.

I reported 7 of them in the last few hours.

There's currently 3 in Emulation News Submissions, 2 in Open Discussion, and 2 in Game/Console Discussion.

The criterias to trigger moderated status for posts from new accounts may have been loosened in the last month. Earlier, normal first posts from new users got caught in the filter all the time and had to be approved.

you're sick of spam threads? at least you don't need to deal with the spam bots :p

no need to report spam threads as I will eventually get to it and ban the bot, just report spam posts as those are harder to see as I don't go into every thread

I would deal with them if I could, don't worry :p

Will do, but I don't see those as much anyway.

Resolved all 9 of those, something needs to be done with new member registration, or our members list will soon be flooded by spam bots.
    +1, Samor for president.

People have previously complained the forum was dying.
I don't know what they're talking about, we get so many new members every day.

well looking at the spam bot ips they are coming from 2 places, Pakistan and India. I have also noticed very old accounts being active again but the ips are all over the place so maybe some of these accounts have been compromised
