    Hello all,

I am looking into the details of this to see if they can be restored from the archive. Can you give me a little more detail on what the attachments are, where they were located, and any additional info to help the team locate them if we can?

Theres over 200.000 attachments, 32 gigabytes. Over 3 quarters should be images (screenshots, generic images), the rest a mix of archives (singlefile or multipart 7z, zip, rar - savestates, memory cards, memory dumps...). Some types and locations much more valuable than the rest.

They were normally succesfully copied to the xenforo install around 31 october 2013, but something happened during import cg's hired guns of the time ('Enzoten') did not elaborate into or concealed (id need log summaries and paths to identity where they messed, because by all measures their migration shouldve been successful, unless old attachments are stored in a separate location than the new ones and the xf install only links to those stored on the later). Since pretty much all attachments (except in the private recycle bin) were public I suggested that an admin secures a DVD copy of all attachments back then, but I'm not sure CG followed up on that, although they assured a full redundant backup of the attachments was made and archived. If you didnt copy them to whatever server is currently used, you may have to request CG completes transfer of the site's files.

The ids for new attachments continued since the last upload's on vb (they were not reset to 1), which keeps open the possibility to reattach. From what I see, post-import rebuilding/bbcode cleanup may have delinked attachments from posts, but they should still be in the filesystem. Despite previous linkage, old attachments were not downloadable.

    Thanks for the info

I am building my case so we can see what the team can do. Any other threads or details will be great if you run across them post them here.

How many would be able to be converted and what's the process involved? I used to always think the converter converted attachments alongside converting the board software but seems that may not be the case.

No idea, I have to have tech do some major digging to recover these.

If there are any other important ones let me know and I will see what I can do.
